Extended Fungi Family
Lycogala epidendrum
Rochester, NY
While hiking one dreary day near Rochester, NY along a ridge, I decided to explore this small valley with a small almost dried pond in the middle. Steep ground, I made my way carefully down and found lots of dead, downed trees along the way. Many with mushrooms growing on its sides. Near the bottom on a large downed trunk, was this patch of bright green moss, and coming out of it this fantastic orangy-ping mushroom balls. The largest in the picture is the size of an adult little finger nail!
